Pictured below is an unusual steel camshaft gear and Model B camshaft.
This particular cam and gear came from a Riley engine which was raced in Michigan in the 1930's.
The gear is shown loosely reassembled after I de-gunked it and cleaned everything up.
Also note the slot drive in the nose of the cam for front oil pump or magneto drive.
This gear was well made and was machined from a single piece of steel.
This is one gear which solves the fiber gear reliability problem!
