This is the fabulous "trouble truck" of the US Army's 17th Field Artillery Ford Motorized Battery. This specially equipped truck was the recovery truck for supporting the gun trucks and artillery pieces of the Field Artillery Battery.

This truck was supplied by Ford Motor Company to the US Army on US Government Purchase Order, and was equipped with the Warford sextette dual rear wheel tandem driving axles and compound transmission.

Also note the special double bobbed rear fenders, and fender-mounted side mount spare tires.
