This body style German Ford Köln Schnell-Lastwagen truck was produced from 1948 through at least 1950. The Schnell-Lastwagen truck had a weight rating of 1.5 to 2 metric tons and a shortened wheelbase, compared to the longer 3 ton Typ Ruhr Lastwagen truck of the same body style. It was marketed as the "Quick-Truck".
The Schnell-Lastwagen truck series used the G28T four cylinder engine. The G28T engine was first introduced in 1942, and was based on the German (and US) Model B engine.
The primary internal improvement of the G28T was the introduction of pressure oiling and factory shell insert main bearings, replacing the poured babbitt of the Model B engine.
The G28T engine production continued until 1958 for industrial and agricultural uses such as in the Claas Mähdrescher combines.
This truck used the basic hood, grille, and front end sheet metal styling of the US 1940-41 one ton and above conventional trucks (01T series). The German front fenders were somewhat more sweeping than the US fenders, and without the skirt.
The German cab itself was also similar but different. The door feature lines were different, and the Ford Köln trucks had flat windshields whereas the US trucks had split windshields.
Note the Model B engine DNA above, but having the final developments such as the carburetor, ignition, water pump, fan, oil pan shape, etc.
The Ford Köln Schnell-Lastwagen had the standard engine output of 52 PS (metric hp).
