Here is a very neat Model A era service garage tool. It is a wheel straightening press made by the Wheel Service Equipment Corporation of Detroit, Michigan.
This machine is owned by Dave Bockman who supplied these pictures. He bought it from the retiring owner of an old shop about 10 years ago. Dave has straightened many club members wheels with it and says it works good.
Dave indicates he uses a dial indicator to measure the deflection and the press is all mechanical. It works on 16, 19, and 21 inch wheel sizes. He can get most of the wheels to within 0.015 inch lateral run-out. Some of them just can't be saved if the wheel is bent out of round.
