A friend of mine resurrected his high school Model A after it had sat untouched on the family farm for 40 years. It was pretty rough and he only repaired what was needed to make it drivable again.
On his first short club tour a rust hole developed in the oil pan. One of the members suggested using a screw from the upholstery to plug the hole. We put the screw in, added more oil and off we went... until another hole, another screw, and another hole and another screw became a routine every few miles. We got to our destination with plenty of oil left between us but his upholstery was falling out from lack of screws.
